These grants will enable representatives from UK festivals to visit a festival (or festivals) in mainland China. This is designed to help participants gain a better understanding of the cultural landscape in mainland China and to make connections which will benefit their own festival in the UK.

International Showcase Fund
The International Showcase Fund (ISF) offers grants of up to £5,500 for international export opportunities for UK-based artists, bands, songwriters and producers who have been invited to perform or create new music at international industry facing showcasing festivals, songwriting camps or conferences. Our partnership with PRS Foundation to support this opportunity is specifically designed to enable UK artists to perform and collaborate at festivals and showcase opportunities across sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, South East Asia and Latin America.
Grant: up to £5,500.

Film Travel Grants Fund
Our Film Travel Grant Fund is supported by BFI National Lottery funding in partnership with BFI NETWORK and the BFI International Fund. The grants are designed to enable filmmakers to represent work abroad, develop new contacts and networks, and reach new audiences. It is particularly created to increase the exposure of new and emerging UK films, XR projects and talent on an international stage.
Open to: UK filmmakers and XR creatives.
Grants: awards for short and feature film festival grants range from £100 – £1,500 but will not normally exceed £750. Awards for XR projects are divided into two tiers: travel only (£100 – £1,500) and a limited number of travel / technical grants for larger scale showcasing, capped at £7,000.
Deadline: there are no deadlines; this is a rolling fund. Applications must be made in advance of travel and we can not fund events that have already taken place.
Global Creative Legacy Grants and West Midlands Future Growth Grants
In partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority, we are launching a new small grants programme for artists, creatives, and arts, culture and heritage organisations to boost their international profile, create new partnerships abroad, and promote their work on a global scale. Applications are open for grants between £2,500 and £8,000 across the two strands of funding:
- Global Creative Legacy Grants – for the development of partnerships between West Midlands organisations and partners in ODA-eligible countries.
- West Midlands Future Growth Grants – aimed at individuals and organisations seeking to develop their practice through international work.

Bundanon’s Artist in Residence programme
We’re supporting a three-week residency, for a UK based artist, at this year’s Bundanon Artist in Residence programme – the largest of its kind in Australia and one that spans the organisation’s 30 year history. Applications will be accepted from individuals – whether you’re an emerging talent or an established professional – collaborative groups and incorporated companies.
This residency is part of our work within climate and sustainability, supporting contemporary artistic practices, providing a space for artists to conceive, experiment with and develop new work including: arts as place-based climate action, creative sense-making for present and future, collaboration between arts and science and culture as an ally in climate activism.

International Collaboration Grants 2024
A pot of £1 million is now available, supporting new cultural collaborations between UK artists, arts professionals and organisations and their peers around the world. Our International Collaboration Grants encourage new bilateral and multilateral partnerships – across arts – providing funding to enable organisations to make and develop creative artwork with their international peers, and help individual artists find innovative ways of collaborating.
Grant: between £25,000 and £75,000.

Cultural Protection Fund small grants open call
Our Cultural Heritage Fund supports efforts to keep cultural heritage safe. If your organisation has a project to safeguard cultural heritage from risks relating to conflict, instability and/or climate change you can apply for up to £100,000.
Grant: up to £100,000.
Open to: organisations can apply from anywhere in the world, but must be working in one of the fund’s target countries or territories: Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen; East Africa – Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda; South Asia – Afghanistan. If you are not based in one of the above countries or territories, you can apply but you must have a local partner where the project is taking place. Individuals and sole traders are not eligible to apply.

Art Exchange: Moving Image
‘Art Exchange: Moving Image’ is a new collaborative and cross-cultural curatorial professional development and exhibition programme for early to mid-career visual arts curators from South Asia to work with the British Council Collection’s moving image works. The programme is delivered in partnership us at the British Council, LUX and Art South Asia Project (ASAP). Participants will receive: mentoring support from LUX and ASAP; professional development and networking opportunities; a fully-funded research trip to the UK in Autumn 2024; the opportunity to work with moving image works in the British Council visual arts collection; logistical and financial support to stage a final exhibition; a curatorial fee.
Open to: applicants must be based in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka but do not need to be a national of these countries.
